Hot Hot Hot

So last night is the first night we have turned on the heat for the home.  It has been a balmy 80+ degrees here for most of December.  I was remarking to the neighbor that it doesn't seem like Christmas with it as hot as it is.  No worries it has made a 180.  When I went to bed last night it was in the 60's this morning it was 15 with the wind chill. However, it is supposed to be back up in the 60's by the end of the week and we are almost half way thru the month.  No complaints here.  I can keep rockin' my shorts....

MOOO

Yes, it is that time of year. Mom and dad were gracious enough to bring the beef all the way to my house. It filled the freezer but I have to share.  I figure if my sisters don't get theirs by Christmas I'll start dining on their share I'll implement the nosh on yours before mine rule.... So Where's the beef? At my house of course!!!!

Look who I met in ATL

If you guessed the Coca-Cola polar bear you would have it right!  He blinked and opened and closed his mouth. I was also told that he is a robot. Not sure one way or the other. It was fun all the same. So Have a coke and a smile!!

Safe for Dinner at my house

We all know of the coleslaw incident of 2010.  I decided that it was time to try to have the neighbors over again. I did not serve coleslaw this time much to the thanks of the neighbors as well as their kids.  When I made the invite to have everyone over to eat, the neighbor son asked me Miss M you aren't going to serve coleslaw are you? I said "no" and he said that it would be fine for his parents to accept the invitation.  We all got a good laugh at that.  So I served hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salsa, and baked beans. Only had a few burgers and hot dogs left over so I would say a good turn out.  The one thing that made it even better is that no one got sick.  I am now allowed to have the parties at my house according to the neighborhood.  Party on Ya"ll!!!

You can get everything at Wal-Mart

Apparently you can get everything at Wal-Mart, including children.... I just finished my shopping and went to the parking lot. I spied a family trying to get their son out of the bed of their truck.  He was running around laughing. I smiled great big and the mom was exasperated she said "if you can get him out of the back you can have him."  So I went over to the bed and said " come here it's time to go, let's get a move on..." The two year old came right over and put his little arms up for me to pick him up.  His dad said here's a hundred if you take him while laughing. His mom was saying NO NO NO. I was just kidding. I knew that they were joking and I gave the kid a treat.  His mom also said that he had never went to someone that he didn't know.  I let her know that I am a pied piper of kids or baby whisperer if you will.  All in all it was a good shopping trip I even save $20.00 in coupons.

Cuddles, Cuddles and more Cuddles

Today was girl luncheon at our house. Hubby was kind enough to hide in the office while the girls and their girls were at the house. He did commendeer the first baby through the door though. He kept her until the others got to the house.  I got lots of cuddles with two different babies and one 3 year old. Fun was had by all and I sure am worn out.  ( No diaper changes for me so the best of best. Playing with the babies and giving them back.)

Red Nails

So I got bored yesterday and decided to paint my nails.  Here is the result. Red was the color of choice. I started with pink and decided to go with something a little more racy.  There is just something about long red nails.  Maybe next week I will do some designs or something fun but for today it was just straight up red!  Here's to seeing red.....

Register Rewards

So on a previous visit to Walgreen's I earned register rewards totaling $5.00.  I thought what am I going to spend this on?  Well, this week Walgreen's had coke 12packs 3 for $10.00.  I promptly went to spend my register rewards. I paid $5.41 for 3 12packs of coke.  How's that for shopping?  Normally one 12pack is $4.29 at Wal-mart.  I hit the jack pot this week. Happy shopping everyone.

Hitch Hiker

Look who decided to go for a ride. The giant grasshopper made it all the way to town at 55mph. He clung to the passenger side window of the jeep before exiting at Walgreen's.  Do you think he was a little lost?

Electric Squirrel

While at mom and dad's house, the electricity had been shut off. I was quite surprised when we found the culprit was a squirrel.  It was not the first of it's kind. I called it the Japanese squirrel. (because it committed Harri Kari) Mom called it a middle eastern squirrel, because it was a suicide bomber. When the culprit hit the transformer, it caused a loud boom and off went the lights. They had 3 of these varmints in less than a week. The electric company sent out some line men to put a special guard up to discourage more middle eastern squirrels.  Crazy right?

He's Home!!

So I have to tell everyone how happy I am.  I went to the airport today to pick up my hubby. He has been gone for a 28 day deployment. Can I just say what a blessing it is to have him back?  Everyday with him is so wonderful. His laughter is infectious, his smile lights up a room and he loves life to the fullest. Let's just say that today couldn't get any better, my hubby is the best!!!

Bus crash

So, I am riding the bus at the airport. You know the one that takes you from the baggage claim area to where you parked the car. When lo and behold, we pull up behind another bus waiting to go thru a gate. I guess it was not moving fast enough.  The bus in front of us throws it in reverse.  I yell at the driver that we were getting ready to be hit. I hollered " it's backing up, it's backing up!!!"  He then lays on the horn and tries to get it in reverse before the inevitable happened. BUMP !! I don't know if the bus in front of us didn't know he hit us or not but he put it in gear and away he went. As I was the only passenger, I wrote out a statement so the driver wouldn't have any problems with his supervisors. I was then transferred to another bus to keep on my journey to my car. What a day!! I made it safely home with the occasional bumps...

Olympics

While at my parents house I watched the men's triple jump.  The gold winner had a jump of 24 feet. I said "holy cow that is really far".  Dad let me know that the distance was approximately the length of their living room.  I was astounded at how far the man jumped. Dad then said to me "I bet you can't jump that far". Now when I am thrown a challenge, it is imperative for me to accept. So I responded, " I bet I can".  I then proceeded to bunny hop all the way across the living room. I told dad that he didn't specifically say one jump. Point one to Me....We laughed so hard. It is always fun at mom and dad's house.

Extra Keys

Thankfully I was home to day, because the neighbor husband was locked out of his house. He had come home after a long day at work laid down the keys inside, went out the back door to feed the pets when the wind came along and slammed the door. Lo and behold it caused the door to lock him out. I got a call to see if I had the spare key. It was returned after their trip. It was also in the locked house. So to make a long story short I am inspired to have a hide a key somewhere outside the house.  I have some pretty good hiding places in mind.  None of which are inside.....

Playtime

Today I went to a friends house. She just had a baby girl.  So cute!!! I got to see her and another friend who has a two month old, another cutie. Let's just say I got to do all the fun stuff and none of the yucky stuff. I got lots of cuddles, coos and smiles. Their mommies got lots of dirty diapers. Who says I'm not living right?  Here's to a day of love and laughter!!!

Wedding Plant

Here is a picture of the only surviving plant from our wedding. It is a wax begonia. Supposedly it has a one year life span. Ours however, has survived 5 years. Yes sports fans 5 years.  We have recently celebrated our 5 year anniversary and thought everyone would like to see the results of our union..... I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and partner in life.

Happy 4th of July!!!

It's independence day and I have the honor to have family that has served our great nation. I appreciate the sacrifices they have made so that we can enjoy our freedoms.  Ice cream on a hot day, talking on the phone, and speaking our mind are a few that come to mind.  May you enjoy the fireworks tonight and thank our lucky stars there are men and women who gave their all so we can say "Happy 4th of July".  "Boom Boom Boom"

Birthday

So hubby came home at the stroke of midnight to ensure he was the first to wish me a Happy Birthday.  He sang and gave me a card and a gift. What a wonderful man... we stayed up till 2 and just talked and snuggled. It was so nice. I then got up around 10 to open the rest of my loot.  I got several cards and gifts from family and friends.  How nice to know all of these people thought of me. So I got to go to dinner with the neighbor wives. We stayed out late for us and had an all around great time.  Can't beat the bday!!! Hope everyone is as happy as I.

It's Alive!!!

Yep, you heard me.... the Jeep is alive!!! Mr. N fixed it and brought it to the house. How's that for service? It was $228.00 parts and labor. Not bad if I do say so myself.  White cake with icing and sprinkles is the way to get your car delivered from your mechanic.  I hope he never retires. He is in his 60's.  AACCKK.  I am thankful that he has a daughter that is 8. So he will potentially work for a few more years. Hopefully, this is the last year for the Jeep at our house. Then I will only visit Mr. N just to say hi and not to get my car fixed.  Happy driving......

Dead Jeep

So hubby decided to take the Jeep to an appointment before work. Not the smartest idea when you know the vehicle is not always reliable.  I get a phone call stating. You need to come get me. I was just getting ready to go to town so it was good timing on his part so to speak.  I promptly drove to his location and exchanged cars with him.  He left for work and I waited on the tow truck. I thought that my nephew would have liked the ride in the tow truck.  It was a short 6 mile ride to the mechanic.  Mr. N thinks he will get it fixed in the next two days so not long with out my wheels.  Mr. N thought we had moved since we hadn't dropped the jeep off in awhile.  I laughed and told him it was only time before we were back..... Gonna bake a cake tonight to take to him tomorrow. Baked good are a sure fire way to get the jeep fixed quicker. A new ignition here we come,  Start your engines!!!!

Weight Loss

I have apparently lost some weight according to hubby.  I then corrected him in his assumption and he then replied that he knew what he was talking about.  So I asked "why do you think I have lost some weight"?  He said "I don't want to hurt your feelings".   At this point I should have had the presence of mind to just take it at face value that he thought I lost some weight.  Nope I had to know what made him think that.  So he said " your back fat is less."  Here's to less back fat in your life....

Crack in a Can

Walmart has a grape soda called Grapette.  It is made from the formula NU Grape.  How "grape" is that?  Hubby and I call it crack in a can.  We love it and it is not as expensive as the other grape sodas. I have to limit myself to one every other day.  I SO could drink the whole 12 cans in one day if I didn't limit the intake. Hence the term the crack in a can.

After the mow

So hubby and I mowed the acre of land this weekend.  It only took 3 hours to mow, weed eat, edge and blow off the sidewalk.  It usually takes me 4 and 1/2 hours just to mow.  I digress... I kept waiting to see Buggs and friends. No such luck. I guess the bunnies really like the tall grass. Not for eating but for hiding and playing in.  Oh they can play.  They play run around the tree. It is kinda like tag.  It took two days before they bunnies came back, thankfully, the bird seed was the lure.  We even got some sunflower seeds to entice them.  I saw Buggs this morning noshing on the sunflower seeds at the bright and early time of 6:30.   So all is right in the world... we still have bunnies!!!!

No need to nag

A conversation between my neighbor and myself....  My neighbor got a post update on face book from one of her friends. It stated that after asking her husband to fix the air conditioner for a few days (nothing being done about the broken air conditioner). She decided to scrub the floor while naked.  It appears that the way to get the air conditioner fixed at her house is to have all her jiggly bits hanging out.  Her husband promptly got it fixed that same day.  Note to self don't nag just get naked!!!

I spy

While driving home from our trip, we had to drive through Louisiana.  Well what do my wondering eyes see? A gator of course.  It was road kill.  Kinda like a deer in Arkansas, or an armadillo in Texas. Hubby asked if it had a tag in it's tail so someone could take it to the buyer and make a little money off it.  (swamp people reference) No tag. I figured it came out of the water and decided to warm itself in the sun on the blacktop.  Nobody said the gator was smart.  Now I can honestly say I have seen all kinds of road kill and that one was the most unique.

On Hold

I was talking with hubby when he told me about a recent conversation he had with a co-worker.  His police officer co-worker told him about being on hold with the local emergency room.  The hold music was a song called "killing me softly".  How's that for irony?  I got a big chuckle out of that. Luckily the call was a follow up not an emergency.  I guess the er is trying for some humor.  Here's to having laughter as a part of your everyday life.

Wake up call

Friday morning we arose at 3am to start getting ready for our trip.(we went to see our god daughter graduate from high school.) I told hubby that I would shower in the guest bath so we could get ready at the same time. I went to the bathroom and turned on the light like any normal person would do at that early hour.  I then about tinkled down my leg.  I spied a snake... yes I said snake, on the bath mat. The offending culprit was laying pretty as you please on the mat making himself home.  I quickly ran down the hall to get my hubby.  He then came to my rescue and killed the snake.  I stated to hubby no need for caffeine this morning. I had all the wake up I could handle.  It was a little grass snake but holy cow I sure could wake up other ways.

Big Toe Boo Boo

So Monday the neighbor kids came over to get some ice for their house.  I was pouring the ice out of the maker into the bowl. Can you tell where this is going? One piece of ice escaped the bowl and landed right on my big toe. It caused the toe to split open.  Big toes sure can bleed.  Now the toe is just bruised and looks really bad. I am going to have to get some paint on it to distract from the bruising.  Note to self... watch out for falling ice.....

Rock Jocks are among us

Well, hubby and I spent the majority of the day at the local VA.  We are waiting to see if he has stones or not.  He is presenting the classic symptoms of kidney stones but according to the doc he needed a ct scan.  Hubby wanted to know what kind of cat they were going to hold over him and wave it around.  When he finished it he told me it was a Persian..... (because it purred).  I have a funny husband.  So we will await the results to find out the treatment options open to us.  Tomorrow is the day for information.  Rock and Roll!!!

Riding Mower

Guess who has a riding mower?  If you guessed us you were absolutely correct!!! Hubby has already mowed the front yard and the neighbors too!  He did that to say thanks for giving us their mower that they didn't want. It needed lots of work but for us it was definitely worth getting it fixed.  We spent $340.00 and it costs $1200.00 new.  My kind of savings.  Now we can mow circles or our names or anything that we want in our yard.  Lil sis gave me the idea....  Hubby was so cute to watch, he had the biggest grin on his face. I'd say he is a happy camper.  I am too because it wasn't me doing the mowing....

New Do

I went to the salon today!!! Yahoo.  I got highlights and a cut.  The stylist also gave me a deep condition so it is nice and shiny.... The length is about at my shoulders. Perfect to wear up and short enough for the summer months. Since it is already in the 90's I figure it was needed to start the summer with shorter hair.  It even makes me look younger. I covered the grey with the highlights. The stylist just let me know that the grey was natural highlights.  I guess I was more natural before I sat in the chair.  Lets just say I am a happy camper!!!!

Butterfly Wisperer

That's right folks.... my man has a butterfly on his finger.  I really think it is a moth but who cares. I was so surprised that it landed on him that I had him hold still while I ran back into the house to get the camera to take this picture.  His hand looks huge but that's what happens when you don't have a professional take the picture.  Happy Landings!!!!

Dying Iris

I have figured out why the Iris are dying. I thought it might be the type of dirt or ants or something crazy like that. Nope... it is Buggs. I happened to spy him out by the Iris this morning.  Then after he finished his morning nosh I proceeded to go take a peek at the Iris.  Yep I noticed some teeth marks on the iris bulbs.  I don't think they can come back from that. Oh Well. Buggs brings me great joy so I can lose a few plants. Mom wanted to know if he asked for a tomato plant.  Last year I only got 3 little tomatoes from my plant because I couldn't keep Buggs and friends from the plant. I watched them knock the plant over to get around the netting I had on it so I could possibly get a tomato.  We have smart bunnies in our parts of the woods.

My Hero My Hubby

So, about 2 weeks ago I was working in the front yard. I decided to weed the flower bed. I picked up the boarder that had fallen over and lo and behold, there was a SNAKE!!!! I quickly dropped the boarder hollered really loud and took off running to the inside of the house.  Hubby extraordinaire heard me holler and came running.  We almost collided.  Looking back it was really quite comical. He asked what caused me to scream.  My response was snake, snake, snake. He got me calmed down and then proceeded to dispose of the offending creature.  MY HERO!!!! He always takes care of the difficult things with aplomb.  I gave him a great big kiss and told him that he is my hero.  It made him blush.  I think I need to add a hoe to my gardening tools.  I remember mom always having one, now I know why.

Buggs

So while mowing tonight I was surprised to see Buggs.  He decided to grace me with his presence.  He doesn' t seem to be bothered by the mower.  I did mow the back 40 while he was close to the house munching on bird seed.  Yesterday while trying to look at the solar eclipse I went into the back yard only to have Buggs kind of hop about 10 feet from me and then when I went back into the house he hopped all the way up to the back door. He was on the concrete pad just acting like he owned the place.   I guess if I was going to have a wild animal visit, Buggs is the one to have.  He is really cute. Fluffy white tail and all.

Police Memorial

Yesterday was the Dallas Police Memorial. I went to support hubby.  He was one of the marchers and saluters.  Every year the DPD has a memorial service for the men and woman that have died in the line of duty. There has been 80 since the 1890's.  The service was a short one and very touching. I am so proud of my hubby for volunteering to do the memorial.  (he does get teclose credit for it which goes toward his masters of policing) They have a prayer at the end of the service that no new name be placed on the memorial before the next year's service. I have to agree.... no new names.

Bunny

I am so excited. The bunny is back. It shows up around 6 in the evening. Two days in a row now.  I don't think it is peeping Tom bunny. This one doesn't have the white fur on the top of its head. So now I need to come up with a name for the new bunny that is visiting our back yard.  I like Buggs. He  is coming to eat the bird seed that the birds throw out from the feeder.  Buggs doesn't seem to mind the left overs. I think I will toss out some carrots tonight make him want to come more often...  Everyone needs a Buggs at their house it is fun to watch him twitch his nose and hop around. So Hop hop hop to it and enjoy life.

Sad Day Today

So hubby woke me to tell me that my beloved Bear has passed. I will miss him with all of my heart. He was the best dog to ever walk the earth. I still remember picking him out and having help naming him. He was so small that he fit into the palm of my hand.  I was asked what kind of animal he was when I took him out. Dog of course.  I guess with all that fur it was hard to tell. In life we are told that we look like our animals and Bear and I sure had the same hair/fur.  BIG!! Sleep well my beloved Bear....you will be greatly missed.

Burn Baby Burn

It is what hubby should have said to me yesterday. I mowed the back 40 and didn't think about sunblock until it was too late. Oh Well, I will have a weird tan line for the start of the summer.I even have a tan line around my ankle. You can tell how tall the socks were that I was wearing.  So when we went to the movies with another couple the wife was like "holy cow what happened?". I wanted to say I fell asleep in a tanning bed but I didn't think she would buy it.  We saw the Avengers. It is definitely a guy who loves comics movie.  It did have some funny parts but I won't be going to the sequel. Hubby was a happy camper I think he might be going to the sequel. If I was a character in the movie, I would have been the star.  I burn bright!!!!

Dinner with the Girls

I got to have dinner with the girls tonight. How much fun did we have you ask? Well, I'll tell you. We (the housewives and I ) went to the local Mexican restaurant and had our own Cinco De Meyo celebration. It is fun to catch up and just have girl talk.  We have started planning our trip away from it all.  May run to the boarder to the casino for a concert or spa or some other thing like that. To top off a fabulous evening out, I return to the house to find the neighbor had mowed the front lawn. Do I live right or what?!  I told the neighbor wife to thank her husband for me. It totally saved me some time this weekend. Celebrate life in your own way I know we did!!!

Weekend of Parties!!

So Friday we went to a retirement for a neighbor then that night we celebrated 24 years of service to the Navy. Way to go neighbor J. What a great service you and your family have given to our great country.  We had brisket, beans, potato salad, craw fish and so much more. Hubby and I went home after the band cranked up the music. I felt like I had been to a concert. It was loud (how old do I sound).  Then Saturday we recovered from the party.  It was a PJ day all day.  How great is that?!  So we come to Sunday and we met at the local VFW to send a young man off to the marines.  It was his going away party.  Hubby had to meet me there because he was at work. He got to stop at the party on his lunch break.  What fun it was to have dinner with hubby and wish the young man all the best.  Nice to know that we are celebrating the beginning of a career as well as the ending of one.  Thanks to all those that have served, are serving and are yet to serve our country!

Gonna try on dresses

Tomorrow I am going to try on dresses for my man's formal dinner. I have to have a long gown. Dillard's here I come. I have always had good luck in findning dresses for a good price. I have moved on from shoes to dresses to help stimulate the economy.  I also am going to find out if one of my bridesmaids has her dress left from my wedding to wear to a wedding this summer. How's that for recycling?  This was a post that dissappeared last summer and reappeared just reciently. It is almost a year ago that I was looking for a formal to give you an idea how old this was.

It's Official

Little Bitty and Family are moving to H town!!! I got a call today to let me know that they put a deposit down on some property to have their dream home built. How cool is that? I figure once Little JH moves to H town mom and dad won't be far behind. It is nice to have them so close.  I will get to see my niece and nephews grow.  Congrats on your new property can't wait to see it when it is finished!!!

Who Knew?

Who knew that holding a weed eater for a little over an hour would make your arms hurt?  Apparently I should have taken to warming up the ole biceps.  I forget that I haven't used these muscles like I used to.  So I am taking some Advil to ease the pain. I do have some nicely edged  spots in the front yard. I think I will tackle the back yard next week. Give my arms time to recuperate. I have to say it isn't as good as Mr G. but it was a heck of a lot cheaper.  I don't think I will be giving him a run for his money but I can keep the yard looking spiffy.  I guess I am thinking green by keeping it in my pocket!!!

Conversation last night

Hubby and I were out to dinner with another couple when we were discussing some things that made us laugh at our jobs. I had to tell the story of the passenger who rang the call bell and asked "Where are the state lines?' I had to look around to ensure that I was not going to be on TV. I thought she was playing a prank on me.  So, asked her "What? I'm not sure I heard you correctly." Again her reply. "Where are the state lines?"  I responded it is kinda like when you drive across them you don't really see them but they are there. She let me know that she had never been out of the state before and thought the state lines were actually drawn around the state.  So before I walked back down the aisle she asked "How do the pilots know where to go?"  I couldn't explain the whole transponder and air space in the time allotted for the flight so I just let her know......."The pilots just follow the state highways."  Happy flying!!

Pink Wall

I got up this morning and decided to paint the laundry room wall.  I am so excited to say it is finally finished. I need a little touch up paint but all in all it looks good. I have included a before and after shot. Now I am more excited about doing laundry,it is surprising that a little color can make a difference.

Guess what I did

You guessed it. I finally finished painting the wicker. This is a picture of both chairs that needed to be painted.  I forgot to do a before and after so I did a side by side. You get the picture.... pun intended. This is the beginning of spring for me. Time to work on the outside as well as the inside.  Not much left to do so I will keep you posted on the ins and outs.....

Flying

So I have passed the 3 year mark of my clipped wings. I am no longer a flight attendant. For so many years it defined me.  People would ask what I did for a living and I replied I am a flight attendant. Now, I just say I don't know what I want to be when I grow up.  I am a home maker, friend, sister, daughter, favorite aunt, and wife. Yet none of these things define me.  What I miss about my old job is the friends and the being gone. It was also one of the things I disliked about the job... being gone. So go figure.  One of these days I will post some of my favorite stories of work.... Coffee, tea, or me?

Hoppy Easter Bok Bok Bok

It is Easter and I have had the opportunity to have the fun with my husband and neighbors. We had dinner the traditional kind with Ham and all the fixin's.  I think the favorite of today was the deviled eggs.  Kinda crazy to have them before the egg hunt but all is well. The neighbor boys had about 150 eggs to hunt. It was fun to watch them tear across the yard finding the egg first and filling up their baskets.  Lots of goodies for them to snack on.  We finished the hunt before the rain started. It was a gully washer.  Holy cow did it rain. It filled up our ditch and almost went over the drive way.  The whole back yard was almost flooded. It seemed like as soon as it started it was over.  I even saw two wrens before it got dark so all in all a great Easter.

Tornados

So, we have already had one tornado touch down a few miles from my house. We are under another watch for more of these swirling winds. Hubby is out working the streets. (Not in the working girl sense) Before he went to work, I went outside with him only to watch the clouds moving in two different directions. I made a comment about how that wasn't good and he calmly replied it isn't bad for us it is bad for others.... "That won't touch down here, it's moving to fast".  Well I talked with my little sister shortly after this outside conversation and she told me "Oh yeah, we grew up in Cherry Valley". This comment gives me the weather girl status because Cherry Valley is in tornado alley.  I can remember getting in the tub several times growing up, as well as getting under our desks during class.  I will be more than happy to pass off the weather girl hat......any takers?

Ant Bites

So I was working out side in the yard, when lo and behold, I got bit by several different ants. My left leg has four bites as well as my left arm. Go figure my right side must not taste so good.  The yard sure looks good. The flower beds are clean of weeds, the monkey grass has been hand cut, and the crepe myrtles have had hair cuts.  I have the wicker started with repainting. Had to stop due to no more paint. Went to the store and got paint only to have to wait till we don't have high winds as well as high humidity.  So next on the list is to paint the laundry room. I keep saying I am going to do it but I know I only have so many projects left till nothing is left. Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow......

Circle of Life

Circle of Life or so the saying goes. Well I was sitting on the couch yesterday morning watching the birds at the feeder. When Lo and Behold, ( I added that for you big sis), I see this little bird flying as fast as he can when WHAP into the glass he goes.  I think to myself OH NO. I didn't happen to see the reason for him flying into the glass until a second later when whoosh out of nowhere comes the red tailed hawk. He scooped up the little bird that had bopped himself on the head and away he went. He had a fast food breakfast if I ever saw one. All that was left was a few feathers floating to the ground. I apparently was shouting for hubby to come because he came running into the living room only to see me standing at the window.  His quote was that it was the "Circle of Life and isn't it good that we are feeding all of God's creatures".  So let your spirit soar with wings of joy today, tomorrow and the rest of your lives. Afterall it is the circle of life.

One week home

The first week back has been very eventful... I have already made a trip to the er with hubby.  He got bit by a dog while at work. Lots of stuff going on and it is only just beginning. I guess I didn't get enough hospital time while in Arkansas.  I had Mr. G mow the grass/ weeds and the lawn looks so much better. No waist high weeds to contend with. My irises are very happy. I think they have grown 2 inches now that they can get some sun. I hope to get some blooms next year.  I made it home in time to see two tulips bloom....yippee!  They are the best color in the world. PINK!!!! Happy Spring everyone!!!

He's BAACCKKK!!!

That's right sports fans my hubby has returned!!! WAHOO!  Life is good. I picked him up from the airport on Sunday. We both arrived home from being gone for an extended period. It was so good to hug his neck. We stopped at Sonic to have a burger and came home.  We both napped on the couch.  I got up and fixed dinner, we ate and went back to bed. We were tired after our travels. IT is so good to be home and sleeping in our own bed with our own pillows.  There is something to be said for 600 thread count sheets. Happy sleeping to all and to all a good night.

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is a day for love, family and friends. Hubby sent me flowers, a teddy bear and bath products. He is so thoughtful.  He got chocolates and a card. Everyone else got a call. I even talked with Virgin Atlantic Man. Cousin B left work early so she could get ready for her upcoming trip. I wished a happy VD day to my older sister. Little bitty sister got several calls. All in all a great day for friends, family and the one I love. So love, hugs and kisses to all.

Can you hear it?

I can't either.... It is snowing!!! We have a little sleet mixed in.  My poor flowers. They thought it was spring and they sprung. Oh well, I will just have to buy some later this year and plant them.  I am really glad hubby made the flight out before the winter weather decided to visit. It is kinda like last year when he had to leave on a trip and we had a foot of snow the day before he left. I wonder how long this snow/sleet will last. Bundle up it's cold out there.....

Hair cut

Why is it that every time I get a hair cut it is shorter than anticipated.  Because of the length it is curlier... as if I need curlier hair. It kind of reminds me of Annie with out the red.  I feel like bursting out in song.... Tomorrow .... Tomorrow.... the sun will come out Tomorrow.....

Cable Out

AACCKK!!! My Dish network TV satellite went out. It completely froze while watching Wheel of Fortune. It is my little secret that I watch this show every night hoping to have my wheel id to come up. Someone has to win the prize puzzle trip and I keep thinking it is going to be me someday. I also like to see if I can figure out the puzzle before the contestants.  I have found that I shush my husband just like my grandma R used to shush me.  Now you know why I don't answer my phone Monday thru Friday from 6:30 to 7:00 pm. Can I buy a vowel???

Livin' Large

I am so lucky to live in a beautiful home and have a car that gets me from point "A" to point "B" most of the time. We have great food on the table and a luxurious bed to sleep in. How fortunate am I to have a husband that works so hard to provide and that loves me unconditionally.  I can't ask for anything more than what I have. Life is good and I am living it to the fullest!!!!

What can you get for 21 cents?

Apparently you can get 2 sticks of Lady Speed stick deodorant for 21 cents!  I finally did my Walgreen's shopping yesterday. I used the Walgreen's advertised 2 for $4 coupon and my buy one get one free coupon and ta da.... 21 cent deodorant! I was so excited to get my coupons out of the Sunday paper.  I don't think I will score a deal like this week but I can always hope for next week. My grand total was $27 spent and savings of $19.58 in the store and I have a $10 rebate. So I will end up paying $17 for two deodorant, two Advil 100 count, two Dimetapp 4oz bottles, and a half gallon of vanilla blue bell ice cream. Not bad for an hour of shopping.  If I had paid retail the grand total would have been $47 before tax. Can't beat those savings.

Is it a UFO?

Around 7:45 to 8:00 there was a loud boom and there was an orange glow in the sky. Hubby has had several calls coming into the police department about an UFO.  Come to find out it was a meteor. It was in the sky for about 3 to 4 seconds. Moving from the east to the west high up in the sky.  Makes you want to say E.T. phone home, live long and prosper or what the frack?  All science fiction references for my reading audience that is not aware of the phrases.

Coupon shoping

It is time again to coupon shop!!! It is a little addictive. I will admit. Today I was at walmart and saved 17% all because of using coupons.  I can't make 17% with my investments so I have to figure clipping coupons is the next best thing!! I still  have my Walgreen's shopping left to do. I have a bogo free for deodorant and they are having a buy one get one half off.  Advil and Dimeatap is also buy one get one half off. I have coupons for these items as well. To top it off if I purchase these items I can send in for the $10 rebate. I think I will only pay $5 after it is all said and done. See what I mean it is addictive....Shop till you drop!!!!

Laundry Fairy

Ever wish you had a laundry fairy? One that would come to wash, dry, fold and put it all away. I so wish I had one of those, instead I have one that seems to add laundry when I am not looking. It seems that he/she likes to sneak into the laundry room everyday and pile it high! The laundry fairy has been busy leaving me loads to do and not much time.... Happy Washing everyone!

Breakfast for Lunch

My hubby got up late this morning so instead of me making my usual dinner for lunch I decided to make breakfast for lunch. Hubby works during the dinner hour so we eat it at the lunch hour. It is our time together each day that we sit at the table and talk. I digress.... I made an omelet that had fresh mushrooms, asparagus, bacon and cheese. It was so yummy. I think I was hungry for breakfast. Oh and I added buttered toast.  The only way it would have been better is with some hash browns!!!!  I get those scattered, smothered and covered at waffle house.  Breakfast anyone???

Flowers

Look who got flowers... Hubby brought the roses home for me!!!! My favorite color to boot!!!! I arranged them in the vase and let them open up for all to enjoy. Don't forget to stop and smell them!!!

Rain...

I am sitting here listening to the rain and I think of the time we went camping. Anyone remember coming back to the campsite only to find frogs swimming in the suitcases?  The rain was so hard it knocked down the tent.  I actually saw a frog hopping across the road while driving tonight. Yet another reminder of the camping trip.  Now I only need to go swimming and get some leeches.  Feel like shopping for some flashlights? Lots to think about while listening to the rain....

Mowing in January

What's that you say Mowing in January? Yep, you heard me. I mowed the front yard and part of the back yard. It is a balmy 72 today and looking to be 76 tomorrow. We are having late spring weather and all of my flowers are responding in kind by making an appearance. Hopefully we won't have the snows like we did last year. I don't want to loose the flowers. I will say that I enjoyed being outside soaking up the sun. I even used the weed eater. The house looks spiffy from the outside.  Oh did I tell you that we are expecting almost 80 degree weather this weekend. What's up with that?  I guess it means more mowing in January....

Pagent

I am watching the Miss America Pageant!! I have my princess crown on and wish I had taken the time to put on my gown. Oh well there is always the Miss Universe pageant later this year. At least I won't be sitting in my swimsuit. Go Miss Texas and Tennessee. I love me some pageants!!! I think before I die I will have to go to the pageant in person. I even have the wave perfected. Pick Me Pick Me!!!!

Coupon Crazy

Today I was at CVS and I had a buy one get one free manufacturer's coupon. CVS had a special on the razors I like to use buy one get one half off. So I spent $3.50 and saved $10.49. What a deal!!! (as my folks would say) Used the coupons at target, walmart and Walgreen. I spent a total $93 dollars and some change but I had over $40 dollars in coupons. How's that for coupon clipping. Just found out that target and walmart have coupons on their websites that you can print and use. Walmart also accepts competitors coupons. I have found if you bring a copy of the stores coupon policy that the cashier doesn't give you any grief when checking out. Be sure to check the expiration and the restrictions to make the checking out go quicker. It also is beneficial to hand the coupons one at a time when checking out if you have a stack. That way none of them get skipped. (had it happen once) Happy couponing to all of you savers!!!

The Game

Watching the game and thinking to myself.....Holy Cow do we not want to win? I have jumped up and down yelled at the tv and held my breath. None of it seems to be working. Come on guys get it together!  I did get out my pom poms and did a little cheer. It made my own razorback alum happy. Tee Hee :-)
Woo Pig Sooie!!!  WE WON!!!  I guess the cheer worked!!!

zoo pic

Does anyone remember the zoo pics from when we were kids. No hippo statues but this was the closest animal that we could find. Happy Zoo Days to you!!

We went to the ZOO

It is Thursday and we went to the zoo!!! The last animals that we saw were the otters and oh are they my favorite!!! So cute and furry. We fed the giraffe, looked at the tortoise, and saw an Eagle bathing in its habitat. It was a nice sunny day and all the animals were out and about. Very few people so it was like having the zoo to ourselves. How great is that!!! It was Zootastic!!!

Curling Iron

When was the last time I burned my forehead with a curling iron? You would think sometime around middle school.  Nope, apparently I have forgotten how to use a curling iron because I did that today. No big burn or anything like that but it was enough for me to say ouch.  Butterfingers....Grace you name it I didn't get it right today.  On a bright note my hair looked soooo good!! I rocked the burned forehead.

Zoo

Thursday is zoo day. We are going to go to the zoo!! The first time this year that hubby and I are going. I have been 2 times already but not with him. So in honor of the trip Wednesday night we are going to go watch the movie We Bought A Zoo.  How fun I get to go on two dates with hubby this week.  WAHOO!!!

Quiet

It is amazing how quiet the house is when there is no pitter patter of little paws. It is also quiet when sleeping no snoring either. Only on Wednesday and Thursday nights when hubby is home. I am getting more sleep.  Miss the fur ball though. Good news I can still visit and have visitation rights.
