Holiday Decor

It is that time of year when everyone is going crazy trying to decorate, bake cookies, shop and wrap presents.  Oh and don't forget the Christmas cards. I have found that if you want to enjoy the holidays just do the one thing that makes you happiest. I have decorated the mantel and the outside with the bare minimum this year and yet it has surely made me happy.  It makes me feel a little Christmasier. I do miss the white tree with the pink ornaments but it is not what makes the holidays. It is spending time with the ones I love. SO Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!!

Naval burial

Well our fish Berta died. Hubby was kind enough to take care of the burial so that I didn't have to worry about it.He flushed it down the commode. He called it a naval burial.  I cried because we had that fish for over a year and a half.  It was a female beta.  Most beta fish don't live that long. At least the neighbor kids beta's didn't live that long. We won't be getting anymore fish for a while. Fair well Berta....

I am my mother's daughter

I couldn't wait to open a present and I have already used it. The Dyson vacuum is the BEST!!! It pulls the wear areas up and makes it look like new. Holy Cow. I wish I could have gotten one earlier. I think anyone who has even one room with carpet needs one of these babies!!! It only took half the time to clean the carpets and they are so much better than with my old vacuum. It weighs less and does such a good job.  I give it a 5 out of 5 stars *****!!!! I kinda want to vacuum again tonight....

christmas in the mail

I got both of my gifts from hubby today.  I got an air purifier. (for his allergies....ha ha) I also got a new Dyson vacum cleaner!!!! I can't tell you how excited I am. I am also thinking of wrapping my gift to open later but I really want to open it and use it. Hubby didn't know I would be here when it got delivered. He is still sleeping so I hope he isn't disappointed  that I know what my gift is. I think I will wrap it so he is surprised. I have been complaining about the vacum cleaner that I have and have always said that I wanted the Dyson but thought they were to expensive. Guess he was listening and thinks I am worth it!! YIPPEE!!!! Happy cleaning.....

Lions andTigers and BEAR!!! OH MY!

What's that you say Bear?  I have the cutest little fur ball visiting.  He is a shadow following me around. He likes his morning belly rub and chase the neighbor dog. He likes his chicken cold as well as his wet dog food. He doesn't like it when I leave the house or when hubby puts him down so he actually has to walk.  Go figure. I wouldn't like to walk either... I am enjoying my time with the best dog ever!!!

Hair done...check

I went to the beauty school and got my hair colored and styled. It sure looks better now that I am not strawberry blonde. It is a little darker now. Great for winter. Also got eyebrows waxed. Getting all dolled up for hubby to come home. He'll be here in just 5 days. All I have left is getting nails done and cleaning the house.

Resume

I have gone in search of my Resume.  I believe my laptop ate it. I can't find it anywhere....AAARRRGGGHHH. Just when I was going to post it to Virgin America's website. Now I have to create another one and my dear hubby updated my windows and I don't have access to office. So now I wait till he gets home to create another resume. I guess that is not where I am supposed to be working. If only I knew what I was supposed to be when I grow up.

Quiet

It sure is quiet with Hubby gone. I was so surprised that having him gone only one day sure has made a difference in the noise level in the house. Usually he is sleeping the day away b/c of his work schedule but I can still hear him snoring or rolling over or what not. It is knowing I can go in the room wake him and have someone to chat with. I have the tv on in the back ground just for noise. (too bad there isn't a show with snoring on it....lol) While he is away I have a few projects to keep me busy. (cleaning the carpets, mowing and such)  Now to make some noise!!!!

Tie Dye Continues

Well the two shirts came out great. I wasn't able to make all four due to running out of dye. OOPS!  So next week I will perform part two of the saga. I will say the first two came out really well.  Fave cousin and I will be sporting some cute mickey wear..... My neighbors even wanted to see them.  Can you guess what color the mickey shape is in? None other than my signature color.....PINK. The rest of the shirt has blue, green and pink on it.  Hubby helped me complete the two shirts so many thanks go out to you..... Now to figure out how to put TINK on a shirt.....I would use glitter for my fairy dust. May your day be magical.

Tie Dye

Did you know that you can tie dye a shirt to look like mickey mouse is on the front? Well I am going to attempt to make matching shirts for my cousin and myself for our up coming trip. Not only will we have two shirts apiece. It will give hubby and I a shirt to wear when we go again. How fun is that!? If they turn out well I will figure a way to send a pic out for all to see. I might put some 60's music on to channel my inner hippie!!!

What's 4 wheels plus 4 wheels?

It's a two car family!!!!! My Jeep has been fixed again. Yeah, Yippie and all that jazz. Mister "N" sure does good work. He got Jeep parts ( two idle pulleys and the mounting parts) plus the labor for a grand total of $180.00. He did it in one day too. How cool is that?  I took the jeep for a test drive yesterday to do some shopping. Got Little bit her birthday present and some good stuff for me.  Needed socks and unmentionables. I enjoyed shopping at Kohl's and JC Penny.  So I will be running around town in Big Red. Watch out motorists.... I'M BBAAACCCKKKK.....

Car Problems....

As if having my jeep break down last Sunday wasn't enough. Hubby's truck decided that the right front caliper came off during our drive home from county court. He had to testify against some bad guys. Thankfully it happened in the best possible place for that to happen.  At a stop light in a small town, we had 3 people stop to ask if we needed help.  God sure watched over us today. I happened to be the one driving. The tow truck driver gave me the number of a local repair shop and it is kind of like the one my parents take their vehicles to.... I may have found a Mister "J". How cool is that?  While hubby is away I am going to have the jeep towed to the shop and hopefully get fixed. I am going to call the local shop first to make sure they can work on it as well as fix it. So we may be a 2 car family again. Hubby was able to ride the motorcycle to the auto store before it closed and got the much needed bolt. One of our neighbors even offered us the use of their vehicle. How lucky are we that we have such great neighbors!!!  We are truly blessed.

Guilty Pleasure

I love watching the TV show Project Runway! I so enjoy the fashion and the sewing. (even though I don't sew and probably won't ever sew) I think it is really interesting to see what the people come up with in the time constraints that they have. Some really fabulous dresses and some not so much.  It just goes to show you what a little creativity can do.

Police Cookies

What are these you ask? It is just a chocolate chip cookie made with 1/2 milk chocolate and 1/2 white chocolate chips. Get it black and white.... I am going to be baking a batch to send with my hubby to give to some of the guys at work. I hope they find it amusing to be eating police cookies since they are police officers.  They were kind enough to check on us this week while hubby had some medical issues. My way of saying thanks....

Frimp anyone?

I got me some shrimp!!! You can fry it, boil it, BBQ it, and the list goes on and on. I plan on my shrimp and rice recipe.  Just use a stick of butter, a teaspoon of minced garlic, some red pepper flakes (don't have to use these but I like it a little hot), parsley (fresh or dried) to taste, and Parmesan cheese grated on top once you are done cooking. If you have some white wine a 1/4 of a cup makes it even tastier. Just pour all of that over the rice and voila' you have shrimp and rice. Sometimes when I am being lazy and don't want to dirty another dish I add broccoli to the dish. (it is the frozen kind) Steam it up with the shrimp.  YUMMY!!!! My neighbor brought me a 10 lb bag. Whaoo!!! Guess what's for supper?

Car Wash

Makes you think of the song.... WORKIN AT THE CAR WASH.... am singing it really loud in my head right about now. Anyway, hubby and I are taking the neighbor kids to the car wash tomorrow. Big J likes these and is fascinated with the workings of them. His brother little J not so much. But if we take one we take the other. Going to the car wash is all that big J has been talking about to his parents and anyone else who would listen. So it will be fun. I think we will take pictures of car before washing and after with the kids. Hubby wants to possibly go for ice cream after. I wasn't so sure that is a good idea. Sugar the kids up and then take them home..... Good for us not so much for the parents......

Coke Rewards Points

I am entering my coke rewards points and am thinking I will be sending out magazine subscriptions for Christmas this year.  If you are interested in any particular magazine just let me know. I currently have almost 400 points to burn. I usually just enter sweepstakes with the points but I figure I will actually get something for my points this time.   I haven't figured out how to redeem them for something other than the sweepstakes so I don't know if I can gift the subscription. I'll find out soon enough I guess. Happy Reading!!!

Home again Home again

I have arrived safely at home and should have played the slots yesterday. I used all my luck getting home..... All flights over sold and way down on the standby list. I made it!!! Good thing to use my luck getting home! I will be picking up hubby tonight from the airport. His trip went really well he now has his foreign jump wings.  Wahoo!!  It is a bragging right in the airborne community. He jumped out of the plane with a German jump master. It is kinda cool. All is right in the world we are both going to be home. Who knew that I would become a homebody?

Vegas Baby!!!

Vegas you ask? Why yes I am going to Las Vegas. I just bought my ticket and am leaving on a jet plane. Can you hear me humming that song?  I have a wedding to go to and lots of fun to have. I will be getting my quarters tomorrow so I can play the slots...... CHA CHING!!!! That's the sound of money going down the drain but oh what fun it is. There is something to be said for the one armed bandit. All the bells and whistles, not to mention the lights and sirens, it makes your heart beat a little faster. I never take more than I can afford to lose. It is all pure entertainment and money making on the casino's part. I get to hang out with Cousin Favorite. We will have a great time being girly girls. Lots to see and do... and not enough time to do it all. I will leave you with another song..... VIVA LAS VEGAS........( a nod to my brother in law)

Last Night for 3rd Watch

Well tonight is the last night for hubby to have 3rd watch at the police station. What does this mean do you ask? It means he no longer has the Sargent that will throw you under the bus. Yahoo!!!! We don't know if hubby has jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. At least he is happy.  He will start 1st watch Tuesday night. It involves him going to work at 11pm and coming home at 8am. He actually gets off work at 7am but it takes a few mins to finish paperwork and drive home.  His days off are Thursday and Friday. Yeah!!! It sure beats Mondays and Tuesdays all to pieces. Way to go HUBBY EXTRAORDINAIRE!!! You are the best.

Dog Sitter

It's official. I am now watching the neighbors dog. He is a yellow lab and full of energy. I know for certain that I won't be a lab mommy. Pom's are more my speed. I am looking forward to my Bear visit next month. It won't seem long enough but any time is better than no time. I will say that the lab sitting will be a looonnnggg week.  Just have to get the hubby to help with the care. Hope the neighbors have a great time on their vacation and know that their dog will be well cared for.  Gotta go put him in for the night.

Dari

Nope I'm not writing dear diary. I'm helping my husband learn a type of Arabic. So Salaom to all. I have learned how to say and recognize one thru nine. I can say a number of words. However, I think the learning is best left to him. If he passes the test it is an extra $100.00 a month in his military pay. So Happy testing tomorrow!!! Then we are off to his dad's house to wish him a Happy Birthday. Maybe I should learn how to say that in Dari......

I'm BAAACCCKKKK!!!!

I finally have my computer back on line. My hubby decided that I needed the windows updated on my computer and when he did it caused me not to be able to get on the internet. AArrrGGGHHH. So finally he had a few moments to get me back in working order. YEAH. Now I have to finish caulking the shower. I told him when the computer was fixed so would the shower. Not to worry, we have another shower that was used during the time ours was out of commission.  So no stinky people at our home...

Lists

I have a long list of things to do today and not really motivated to do anything. I think if I get out of the house before noon it is going to be a good day. I have already called USAA, confirmed that dad is on his flight, washed the sheets and remade the bed, talked with lil sis and surfed the net for a while. Now to tackle the list for town. (dry cleaning, post office, walmart, and fun stuff like getting my toes done and tuesday morning) I think I can get it done by the time Hubby comes home from military training.  Off to the races!!!!

I am honoring a comment from a previous post. My big sis wrote do you remember the song Tropical Heat wave. Why yes I do and now I am talking about the song. It's getting hot in here so take off all your clothes... I have to say it is almost getting to that point.  110 degrees with out the heat index. Yikes!! We had 12 inches of snow in February but now just 5 short months we have the complete opposite super heat.  Go figure, if you don't like the weather just wait a few weeks and you will get something different.  Guess that could be said anywhere.....  Just remember drink lots of water.....

Lots of Book Reading

I have been busy reading, reading, and more reading. I think in the last month I have read 40 or so books. It is a shame that I can't find a job reading. How nice would it be to make money doing something that I really enjoy. There is a half price book store about 20 mins down the road. If I can't read for a living maybe I could work there part time.  I am however concerned that my entire paycheck would go to more books. HAHAHA    Back to reading!!!! I guess you could say I'm a bookworm.

New Mattress

That's right sports fans we have a new mattress. No more waking up with shoulders out of socket, hips popping, and back aching. I actually slept for 4 hours straight. Can you hear the angels singing?  AAAHHH...  We purchased the mattress at sleep experts.  The old mattress went into the guest room so that when we have company they will be able to sleep on a king size mattress. I might have to put the sheets on short so nobody stays too long....HAHAHA.  Thanks Hubby extraordinaire for all your hard work and buying me a new mattress. You are the best!!!!

Heat Wave

We are on day 21 with 100+ weather and no end in sight. I watered the foundation this morning. Yes I did say water the foundation. I guess in this part of the country the ground dries up so much that it pulls away from the foundation and causes cracks.  So to keep that from happening I get the hose out and spray spray spray.  Let the watering begin!!!!

Car Trip

I have had a request about the 10 hours in the car with my big sis. We went to the hood for the pick up. Let's just say hubby got out the police issue to make sure that we were safe...... Then on to the first b-day for princess in Little Rock, AR. I had so much fun catching up with big sis. We talked about anything and everything. What a great b-day party we went to!! Princess was cute as ever and big brother was fun to watch helping "sister" blow out the candle.  Are you ready for another road trip???? I am!!!! Had a great time with you......

Friend Visit

Oh what a wonderful week I've had. I got to spend it with one of my closest friends "C".  I picked her up last Wednesday. We went to the Stockyards, Water Gardens, the Zoo, my favorite thai place, Dealy plaza and some other great places. It was tourist time in the household.  I even convinced my hubby to go with us yesterday. He was a great paparizzi picture taker. It was sad to put her on the plane this morning but alas she has her own family.  They were missing her. Hope everyone has a great day and many friends!!!!

Home Town Parade

Saturday morning we went with the neighbors and their kids to the local parade. It was so much fun to watch the fire trucks roll by. The favorites of the parade were the Elvis's on the motorcycles. Black Elvis even had a stars and stripes cape on!!!! They kind of reminded me of the shriner's and their motorcycles like when we were growing up. Scootering up and down the streets, circling and honking the horns. What fun was had by all!!!

He's Baacckkkk!!!!

Yep you guessed it. Peeping Tom Bunny is back. I happened to be looking out my window and was startled to see eyes looking back at me. Then I realized that peeping tom bunny was the culprit.  I have missed getting to see the bunnies because of the fence fire. I guess they are now coming back. I am so excited. I think I will go get some carrots so that the bunnies can celebrate their return with me!!!! Oh and I forgot to mention that I saw my first Texas hummingbird this morning. It was drinking the nector from the crepe myrtles in the front of the house. Guess I need to go to wally world to get a feeder for it. Want to keep the wildlife happy!!!

Time with Hubby

I am getting to spend time with my hubby!!! How great it is to have him home. We are sitting on the couch watching some tv before he goes to work. He is already back to work at the PD. Days off are going to be Mon. and Tues. Looks as if we will be planning trips and such around his days off. We will see how this all plays out.

New Computer

My hubby gave me the computer that he was using as a back up. I now can load a screen and not have to scroll up and down and left and right. Wahoo!!! It is so great to be able to make posts and not have to do a lot of extra work scrolling. Oh and by the way Hubby is home from camp lost in the woods!!!! YIPPEE!!!

bunnies

The bunnies have moved to a new house. After the fence was decimated by the fire, the bunnies decided to move to a new location.  If you walk 4 houses down you can spy three bunnies getting the weekly shower in the sprinkler system.  It is really cute to see them run around in the water. I hope once we get the fence fixed and more bushes planted the bunnies will be back. As it is I just have to go visit them.....

Movies

OOOHHHH I have seen some great trailers. I can't wait to see the movie Bad Teacher. It looks so funny. I also can't wait to see Kung Fu Panda 2. I am currently watching 27 Dresses. I think we all have the dreaded dress that can be worn again even though the bride said you can cut it off and wear it again.... LOL.  What other movies make an impact.... Steel Magnolias, 16 Candles, Night at the Museum and Miss Congineality. I plan on having a movie date with my hubby this weekend. Maybe even have a double feature....Eat some popcorn and sweets. Happy movie watching everyone.

Laundry

Why is it that when you finish one load of laundry you find something else that could have gone in with it? I figure it was Murpy and his law.... It's ok I am sure I will need to do some more laundry before it is time to travel again. Gonna need unmentionables and such....Happy washing!!!

Rat Killin'

As my dad would say, I've got some rat killin' to do. All it means is that I have a long list of chores and a short time to do it.  Went to the eye doctor and got the contacts for the year. Went to Lowe's and got some home stuff. Then off to lunch at my favorite taco place.... had a coupon and got to eat for $3.98 drink and tax included. I then headed off to Burke's (my favorite place to clothes shop). I got Dad's b-day gift. I went to Wally world next to finish off the list for today. Tomorrow's list is equally long. I already have lined out my ride to the airport next week and things are coming together. Looking forward to hubby to come home. He can turn my rat killin into a honey do list...

Hot Hot Hot!!!

It is that time of year! I figured that we were going to have at least one to two more weeks of 90 degree weather. Nope it is already 100+.  Yikes. When I left to go visit my hubby I took a long sleeve shirt and a light sweater. Oh what a difference 3 weeks make. Yup, I have been gone quite awhile. Only to be home for a week and gone again. However, the next time I come home I will have one very important person with me. You guessed it folks!!!!! MY HUBBY!!!!! He is excited to get to come home and sleep in his own bed with his own pillow. I don't blame him I missed it and was only gone a short while compared to him.  Let's just say that life is getting ready to get so much better. I can't wait to have him home again. Hope he is ready for the heat and humidity. You can say hello Texas weather......

June 1

Do we know what today is???? ONLY 25 days till my birthday. I am surprised you had to ask. LOL
I am going to be spendind my birthday driving back from a wedding so I guess celebrating will be a moving affair.... HAHAHA. Hope everyone has a Happy June 1st!!!!

Red Lobster

No I am not talking about the resturant, I am talking about the way I look. I went to the waterpark yesterday with neighbor S. We had a ball. I felt like a little kid. Screaming all  the way down the rides, laying in the lazy river and staying in the water until my lips turned blue.  It  was a little cold, however the sun was shining. I used sunblock and even had the neighbor spray me with the sunblock in a can, but I still got a sunburn.  I have raccoon eyes from wearing sunglasses. Let's just say it is not the look I am going for right before the fancy dinner with hubby.  I will however have a great tan for the dinner. (I don't think I burned bad enough to peel.)  Love the sun but  need to start taking it in small doses.

Dress shopping

It looks as if I need to go to Dillard's.  My hubby has a formal dinner with the Army that requires a long gown. I only have short ones.... So I will be stimulating the economy one dress at a time instead of one pair of shoes at a time.  I have also asked one of my bridesmaids to see if she still has her dress. I want to borrow  it to wear to a wedding this summer. How's that for recycling?

Double Rainbow

I spent lots of time looking out the window today. I watched the rain come and go. As it was leaving it left a rainbow. I was so excited to get to see just a rainbow that it turned to major excitement when I realized it was a double rainbow. I thought about the last time I got to see one and it was my trip to Hawaii with my parents. A trip of a lifetime I might add. May all your days be filled with double rainbows!!!!!

FIRE!!!!!

What a wonderful weekend. Got in late last night and woke up this morning to open my windows to the back yard and what do my eyes see but several panels of my fence burned to the ground. I was like seriously?  I actually closed the blinds rubbed my eyes and reopened the blinds. Just to make sure I was seeing the correct thing. Turns out the neighbors behind the house had someone come out today to replace two panels, so not so much work to do. I am still trying to decide what caused the fire. Tomorrow is another day it will be filled with lots of investigating.

What have I been up to?

Let's see...... today I decided to walk on the treadmill. (completed 2 miles) I then decided to remove and replace the weather stripping on all the doors leading to the outside. Loaded and started the dishwasher. I am now waiting to go get my eyebrows and lip waxed. Neighbor M and I are going together. If we have enough time then we will get to get our toes done too.  So all in all a good day.  Bring on tomorrow!!

Thunderstorms

Well it was another dark and stormy night. It makes you think of the beginning of a good mystery book.  I spent the most of the "O" dark thirty hours in  the closet. Approximately 3:30 to 6:30 in the am. I now have a blanket, pillow, bottled water and a flashlight in the closet. I believe I will just keep it there for the next few days so I don't have to keep fluffing the nest so to speak.  I am a little stiff from trying to sleep on the floor but all in all I survived.  Today is going to be rain filled. Thank you Lord for the rain we have needed it desperately. Just keep the thunder and lightening and tornados.

Rain!!!

We finally got some rain this morning.  It was just a short little shower but I'll take whatever we can get.  We even had a short shower this afternoon. It was giant drops. They looked like half dollar size when they hit the ground.  It reminded me of a time visiting a friend in Hawaii. We had gone to the local wally world. As we were walking from the parking lot it started to rain big fat drops!! She thought she had been pooped on by a bird. Then it really started to rain in earnest. We were soaked before we made it to the front door. So ahh memories...

Weddings

Well it is that time of year again. We are invited to four weddings this summer. I think we will only be able to make two maybe three. One of which hubby extrodinaire is going to be a groomsman. Oh he looks good in his suit and tie. We will be making a quick trip from his Army graduation to the wedding. I have booked the hotel so it is coming together nicely. Just have a few more reservations to go and I will have all the trips booked. Now to shop for the dresses to wear.... Yahoo!!! love to help stimulate the economy....

Mowing

I have had a cold for the last couple of days. So I have enlisted the help of Mr. G to come and help me mow the lawn. He does a wonderful job and gets it complete in one hour and a half. Go figure what a riding mower can do.  He didn't even mow the bushes this time.... I don't think the killer bunny will be happy because he doesn't have anything to hide in now. I saw him this morning trying to eat the leaves off my red bud tree in the back 40.  Should be interesting to see if he shows up tomorrow to munch on the tree. I was wondering if it was bugs getting it, now I know. Munch away bunny much away....

Honking the horn

I have such a wonderful dad. He helped me write an essay that someone important in my life needed asap. So as I was typing I had to put him on hold to blow my nose. (as I have a spring cold) In my family it is called honking your horn. Lets just say I tooted it several times in the 2 plus hours while on the phone with dad. I  guess I am a chip off the old block.... so toot toot to everyone out there who is suffering from the bad allergies or head cold this spring season.

Home again home again

Oh there is nothing better than your own bed or pillow!!!! It was so nice getting to spend time with my honey. He is not going to be gone much longer. Only 66 days left. No I didn't count them down. It seems my hubby is missing his pillow and bed too.... Or maybe what is in it. Hee Hee. Looking forward to bringing him home!!!

Retail Therapy

There is something to be said for shopping after going to the doctor.  A nice dress or shoes or both always makes me happy.  Only got a dress but it sure is cute. I went to get the shoes I had been eyeing for a few days but alas they were unavailable.  I was not ment to have those shoes.  I will be looking for shoes at the base when I go see handsome hubby. I have been thinking about the ones up there for about 2 months. So I will be stimulating the economy one pair of shoes at a time.  I wonder how many I need to buy to make a dent in the deficit. LOL.... I would be happy to give it a try. Anyone with me....

Driving

Well I  drove home today from visiting my big sis.  While driving I drove in the driving rain. HA HA It was definately a challange. At one point, the wind was so strong that it almost pushed me into the other lane. Thankfully no one was next to me. God was watching out for me... he had to send a new guardian angel after that drive to give the other one a break. (much needed I might add)  I got home to find that Berta the fish was still swimming strong. Huh, who would have thought that I can keep a fish alive this long?  Just have to keep her alive and well  until the last week of June and then she will be Saint's pet again.

Visiting

I have the opportunity to visit my sister and family. Tomorrow is her bday. Happy Birthday to you!!! I enjoy getting to see how much my niece and nephew grow. They are becoming such young adults. Little bit is such the entrepreneur and big kid is a great athlete. Uncle Favorite will be happy to know that big Kid is going to play football this fall. I don't think anything will make him happier. Maybe he will be on special teams just like his uncle..... We are proud to be able to be called Aunt Favorite and Uncle Favorite!!!

Laundry

I am doing laundry today so I can pack to go see my honey!! Wahoo.... Just a few more days to go. It is so nice to look forward to travel. Just a few more  months of him being in MO.  Once he comes home I will be turning over the yard to him...HEE HEE. I wonder how long before we get a riding mower. (or as my lil sis likes to call them Lawn tractors.) I figure in the middle of summer with the heat somewhere around 100+ degrees it won't take to long to get a lawn tractor. Birds

I now know why the bird seed is being depleted as quickly as it is. I just looked out the window and there is approximately 40 cow birds. There is a handful of morning doves too. This morning before I went to town I had a bird feeder that was halfway full. It now has a few seeds left in it.  Good thing I haven't watched the Alfred Hitchcock movie THE BIRD.  EEEKKKK!  Tomorrow I will head to get some more seed. I want to keep the birds happy......LOL

Mower 1 bunny 0

It is that time of year when you mow and don't realize what you are mowing until it is too late. I guess last week when it was the first mow of the season I mowed a bunny. AAARRRGGGHHH! I cried today when I realized what I saw was that of a dead bunny. (and no I'm not pregnant) It might explain the attack bunny from yesterday.  I had a bunny chase me and then run off. I thought I might have been in a remake of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  (with the killer rabbit)  ATTACK!!!

Weather?

What's up with the crazy weather?  Yesterday I spent the morning mowing in a tank top and shorts. Today I spent the day mowing the back yard in a long sleeve shirt and pants. I even had to turn the heat back on in the house. I thought I was done with that for the season. Good to know it still works.  I also found out that my fire alarm is still currently working.  When the heat kicked on so did it.... LOL It just beeped a few times. It reminded me  of the Friends episode with Feebe and the fire alarm. If you haven't seen it I would give it a two thumbs up.  I think everyone has wanted to smash the smoke detector at one time or another. So for my final farewell of the evening I am going to say......BEEP BEEP BEEP...LOL

Mowing...

It's official. I am now a mowing fool.  I took care of the front lawn today. My neighbor was kind enough to edge while I was walking back and forth, back and forth.  After mowing went to town to do some shopping. Just trying to stimulate the economy. Took myself out to dinner and now I am going to call it a day. Just going to veg on the couch and watch some tv.  Do I know how to have fun or what!!!

Baking!!!

I have the opportunity to go to game night. I offered to bring coleslaw and everyone in my family knows the tale.  Needless to say it say it was turned down.  I then offered to bring dessert. So I will be baking a chocolate cherry cake. It is simple and it tastes like you spent a ton of time on it.  I had to call mom to get the specifics on how to make it. It has been probably been 10 years since the last time I baked it.  It got rave reviews at that time so I hope it is the same this time. All you have to do is add a can of cherry pie filling and take out the oil from the recipie. Bake the cake as it is on the box. Let it cool and use already made icing in the can!!! If you put it in a throw away pan you don't even have to ask for your dish back!!! How's that for easy bake cake?!!! 

At home for the weekend

I was supposed to go  see my honey this weekend but that didn't work out. There is always tomorrow as my folks would say.  I wasn't able to get on the flight so I am going to try for another weekend.  It gives me something to look forward to.  I will just count the days till I get to see him. Maybe I will start some of the projects that I have been putting off. Like making the wall hanging for the master bedroom.

Gardening

I have been out in the yard again. I have planted some of the bushes and trees that mom and dad brought.  I still have plenty to go.  Three crepmyrtle and two red bud and four forsythia....I decided to finish those next week. The dirt around here is much like the concrete that my house is built upon. As mom would say at least you have dirt.(She has mostly rocks) So I will be thankful for the hard dirt. Who knew that my muscles had muscles. I found that out today.  My tip to others is hire someone else to do the planting... Happy gardening!!!

broke down and started a blog

I have done it now. I finally decided to take some time to put down some thoughts. I am trying to decide if it was the right thing to do. I already spend loads of time on the computer.  I will post all about my adventures in life and trying to find my way.
